Hong Kong-Guangdong Business Conference in the United States 2005

Welcome

The Hong Kong-Guangdong Business Conference in the United States 2005, jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the People's Government of Guangdong Province, is the first major business event organized by the two governments in the US.

The purpose of the Conference is to give the US business community a better understanding of the economic development of Hong Kong and Guangdong as well as their favorable investment environment. It will highlight the achievements of the regional co-operation of the Greater Pearl River Delta (comprising Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao) and the Pan-Pearl River Delta (comprising nine mainland provinces including Guangdong and two special administrative regions including Hong Kong) and the prospects of development, with a view to promoting the economic and trade co-operation between the US, Hong Kong and Guangdong.

The program of the Conference will include:

  1. Presentation. H.E. Mr. Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, and Mr. Henry Tang, Financial Secretary of the Government HKSAR will deliver keynote speeches respectively.
  2. Trade and investment promotion. Guangdong Province will present 150 major projects for business co-operation, ranging from information technology, infrastructure, agriculture, biochemistry to environmental protection and logistics industries, and a series of trade lists. In addition, trade lists and over 1,000 projects for investment will also be presented by individual cities.
  3. Contract signing ceremony for major projects.
  4. Industry-specific meeting sessions and investment consultation service.
  5. Dedicated session on the investment environment of Hong Kong.
Delegation members from Guangdong will include major leaders of the provincial government and municipal governments as well as their economic administrative bodies, heads and representatives of the major enterprises. The Hong Kong delegation will be led by a senior government official of the HKSAR.
